On the Herpetofauna of the Central Anatolian Province of Kırıkkale (Turkey)

Abstract

With this study, It was investigated the amphibian and reptile species of Kırıkkale province, Turkey. 30 day field study was carried out between March 2016 and June 2017 within this project. As a result of this study, three anuran, three chelonian, four lizard and seven snake species in Kırıkkale Province, which totally 17 species, were determined. There are no endemic species for our country among them. Emys orbicularis (Linnaeus, 1758), Ablepharus kitaibellii (Bibron & Bory St-Vincent, 1833), Malpolon insignitus (Geoffroy De St-Hilaire, 1809), Natrix tessellata (Laurenti, 1768) and Xerotyphlops vermicularis (Merrem, 1820) species are also new provincial record for Kırıkkale province.
